Finding Soy Products

Due to increasing popularity, soy-based foods are much more likely to be found in the local grocery store than just a few years ago. Provide your clients with these tips to find healthy soy foods.

Dairy and Non-Dairy

Soy milk, smoothies, soy cheese and soy coffee creamer usually are shelved in the dairy section along with traditional dairy products. Search the refrigerated produce section for tofu.

Frozen Foods

The frozen meals section usually includes a wide variety of meat-alternative burgers, hot dogs, pizza, lasagna and more. Edamame usually appears in either the frozen vegetable section or the frozen Asian foods section.

Packaged Foods

Soy also can be found in breakfast cereals, energy bars, chips and frozen desserts, while roasted soy nuts will rest in the snack and nuts areas.

Fresh soy beans are available at natural food stores, Asian grocery stores and some supermarkets.

Soy milk, tofu, roasted soy nuts and edamame are easier to find than ever before.

To find a manufacturer of non-food products that use soy beans, visit the United Soybean Board website.

Soy Fact

Soy-based energy bars make up the largest soy food category (41%), followed by soy-based dairy alternatives such as soy milk (23%), soy-based meat alternatives (14%), soy-based cereals (11%) and soy condiments (5%).
